When testing a cord using the Class I test on the PrimeTest 250, the test will indicate a failed result. The PrimeTest 250 has a fixed earth continuity pass limit of 0.2 ohm. As it has not got a user defined setting and uses a calculation of (0.1 + R)Ω  it would automatically fail any value over 0.2 ohm’s, and then as continuity is a failure the balance of the test sequence will be considered a failure.

Seaward's 5th Edition compliant PrimeTest 250+ now includes variable pass/fail limits for earth continuity and a long lead test function, allowing the competent person to calculate the addeded resistance based on cross-sectional area of the cable and length and overide the failure based on the new calculation.
