How to do a lead test on the PrimeTest 250+?

When carrying out a lead test, the PrimeTest 250+ will test Earth Continuity, Insulation Resistance and Polarity/Wiring.

If testing an IEC Lead, simply connect both ends of the IEC lead into the PAT Tester and press the Class I button to perform the sequence of tests. If you are testing an extension lead, plug the extension lead into the PAT Tester and use the supplied red IEC Lead by plugging the IEC end into the PAT Tester and the plug end into the extension lead. Again, select the Class I test to carry out the sequence of tests.

Note: the instrument senses the Earth Continuity – when using a probe it performs a Class I equipment test, however, if an IEC lead is connected to both sockets it performs a lead test.

Finally, please note, this is a battery only function, this test cannot be performed with the mains lead connected as this produces a fail. This is to prevent a potential secondary earth path which could produce a fail meaning an incorrect test is performed.
