Q: When trying to pat test computers, I always get a fail on the earth leakage test!

The PrimeTest 100 I am using is rated at 200ma so it won’t cause damage to the motherboards, however please would you explain why the earth leakage test fails on all computers I have tested?

A: When testing desktop computers, firstly test the leads separately, before testing the casing.  The PrimeTest 100 has a fixed setting for earth continuity, and if the leads are long, it would indicate a failure due to the additional resistance.
