A Class I test should be carried out for all IT equipment that does not have the double insulation symbol displayed. A soft test for the Earth continuity will then be completed. The soft test has a short circuit test range of 20mA to 200mA nominal. The insulation resistance test would proceed after the continuity has completed, and for this test the voltage should be reduced from 500V to 250V in order to ensure no damage is done.
