Q: I would like to test a 110V extension lead. I am able to connect it using the 240V to 110V adaptor; however I would like to create a new user test to accommodate the length of the cable! Am I able to use one of the 240V test sequences for the 110V test setup?

A: When testing an extension lead, the test performed would be continuity and insulation resistance. In these tests a current of 200mA would be used, regardless of the appliances voltage rating. As the L and N wires are shorted together within the adaptor, a polarity test would not be carried out.
